Following the shut-down of servers for Halo 3, Halo: Reach and other older Halo titles, many fans of the series have been reminiscing about their favorite games, getting in their last multiplayer matches before the Xbox 360 servers shut down. As Halo players looked back on the older games, one fan has decided that Halo Infinite could take inspiration from Halo 3’s multiplayer lobbies, and has redesigned the lobby from the latest title to emulate the previous titles.

Posting a couple of images to Reddit, the fan showed off a background image of the Zeta Halo ring, which is the setting for Halo Infinite’s campaign. On the right of the images is shown a list of the players joining the match, complete with emblems, clan tags and player names. Then, there’s a teaser image of the map players will be playing on, complete with a veto countdown. All of these things combine to give serious nostalgia for Halo 3, and fans have stated in the comments of the post they’d prefer this concept to what the game currently has.
This isn’t the first time a Halo fan has come up with a way to make the game’s online experience better. One player had an idea to improve the emblems in the game, and Teen Wolf star Stephen Ford requested a change for the loading screens in Halo Infinite’s multiplayer. As with both of those changes, the proposed update to the multiplayer lobbies was met with positive reception from the online Halo community. Mostly, this praise came due to the fact that the player took inspiration from older Halo titles, and while some fans believed it was Reach’s UI, it seems that as one player wrote, “it’s basically a combo of 2/3/Reach,” bringing the nostalgia from multiple older titles together.
Whether the Halo Infinite developers will include lobby changes is another matter entirely. So far, there have been changes to Halo Infinite due to fan feedback, such as the lowering of cosmetic prices in the online shop. Also, there is new content being brought to the game as well, as five new maps for Halo Infinite leaked. However, it’s unknown whether lobby changes will be brought in anytime soon.
Halo Infinite is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
