For the longest time, co-op campaign has been a staple of every installment in the Halo series since the advent of Halo: Combat Evolved. Thus, the lack of a co-op campaign mode in Halo Infinite for the last several months has left quite a few fans irked. Though, it seems that players will have a chance to experience a co-op mode for Halo Infinite’s campaign in some capacity soon.

According to 343 Industries’ lead world designer, John Mulkey, a beta version of the co-op mode will be made available from July 11th to July 22nd. Prospective players will have to sign up by July 5th, and it is available to all players that either own Halo Infinite or have access to Xbox Game Pass. Players will also need to join the Xbox Insider Program in order to qualify.
It’s important to note that progress made on both the official and beta versions of Halo Infinite will not transfer over, so players will need to start a new game. The beta will also provide cross-platform support for anyone playing the game on different systems. 343 Industries stated that the direct intent of this beta is to catch any remaining performance or technical issues before launching the mode.
It’s nice to see that with all the ongoing demand from Halo players worldwide, 343 has remained reactive in the pursuit of developing additional content for Halo Infinite. While the addition of the co-op campaign will surely make some players happy, there are still a lot of fans asking for even more content, even wanting specific guns to be added to the game, like the DMR.
In any case, it will be interesting to see what else 343 Industries has in store for Halo fans. If a beta version of co-op campaign is on its way, then it’s possible that Forge mode could receive similar treatment. Given how comparatively more open-ended Forge mode is than other pieces of Halo content, it makes sense for it to be given a lot of attention and development time.
Halo Infinite is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
