A Reddit user named -S-i-x- brought up the famous population map that was featured in Halo 3. When entering online multiplayer, the game would present the player with a world map that showed off bright lights in each country which indicated where in the world players were online. According to the user, as well as many follow-up comments, this provided the community of players an underlying sense of connection in the form of visual representation.

It’s little features like this that could potentially be included within Halo Infinite. The community of Halo fans is quite loyal, considering that there are players that have been with the series since the launch of Halo: Combat Evolved. Thus, to have an outlet to visually show players how big the community truly is potentially provides an additional way to showcase how important Halo is for so many people. Especially considering that Microsoft included an entire Halo section in the online Xbox museum.

In any case, it’s amazing to see how much of an impact the earlier games still have on Halo fans today. The fact that so many players remember something as simple as a population map goes to show how important Halo is to its fans. The amount of online traction that Halo: The Master Chief Collection currently has goes to show just how much influence the classic Halo games have managed to maintain.

It will be interesting to see what the final version of Halo Infinite will look like. There have been rumors floating around that Halo Infinite could have multiple campaigns. While these rumors currently remain unfounded, it would make some sense to have multiple campaigns, considering previous claims of Halo Infinite lasting a whole decade.

Halo Infinite releases December 8 on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The multiplayer beta is available now.
