Steven Spielberg is currently working on the film adaption of Ernest Cline’s Ready Player One. This may be why fans have been unable to get any sneak peeks of the Halo miniseries’ production. Nevertheless, according to Spielberg, once Ready Player One release this month the new Halo series will become his main focus. Since the movie’s release date is the March 29th, it’s likely new info about the show may start to release in the summer.
Last month Showtime president of programming Gary Levine indicated that the series would be reaching the fans soon enough. Furthermore, Levine implied that the miniseries would greatly interest die-hard Halo fans and casual viewers alike. Levine describes the show as appealing to multiple audiences including the drama audiences of Showtime. Although these are currently only rumors, it is also believed that the release of this miniseries may coincide with the teaser announcement for Halo 6 in 2019.
Many details about the miniseries remain unknown including any form of casting, which may concern fans given how long the project has been in the works. Even so, it’s safe to assume Spielberg and Microsoft will want to give the show a proper reveal when the time is right, perhaps as early as Microsoft E3 press conference.
Due to the long history and popularity of the Halo franchise, the expectations for this miniseries will remain exceptionally high. If the miniseries sticks close to its original source then Halo fans will have a lot to look forward to.
