The filmed version of the multi-award winning Hamilton was originally meant to come to theatres in October 2021, so it’s over a year ahead of schedule. Hamilton will also probably skip a cinema release entirely due to being exclusive to Disney Plus, and the delays that the pandemic has caused.
According to the official release from Disney, the film “transports its audience into the world of the Broadway show in a uniquely intimate way. Combining the best elements of live theatre, film, and streaming”.
Hamilton the film is produced by creator of the musical Lin-Manuel Miranda, as well as Jeffrey Seller and Thomas Kail – who also acts as the director. On the release, Miranda stated: “I’m so grateful to all the fans who asked for this, and I’m so glad that we’re able to make it happen. I’m so proud of this show. I can’t wait for you to see it.”
