Given that fans had yet to see any Halo: Infinite multiplayer, it wasn’t surprising that 343 put such a focus on that side of the game. What was surprising, however, was what they didn’t show. Undoubtedly, Halo Infinite’s campaign will be centered on the Master Chief’s heroic redemption against the Banished. However, that gap in time between Halo 5 Guardians/Halo Wars 2 and Halo Infinite should also be spotlighted in the campaign. One of Halo Infinite’s first trailers depicted a UNSC force in shambles, evidently defeated by Escharum’s Banished forces. The campaign may have been well-received, but Halo Infinite’s multiplayer and additional content left players unsatisfied. Considering this is Halo’s first attempt at a live-service game, Halo Infinite didn’t seem to be following up on its live-service promise. The Halo Infinite Recharge map has a power weapon that spawns in Hydro, and so players tend to rush there immediately upon spawn. During Xbox’s 20th Anniversary stream, Xbox announced that Halo Infinite multiplayer will be free to download starting today, November 15. Obviously, today is something of a holiday for fans, as it marks the 20th anniversary of not just Xbox, but of Halo: Combat Evolved too. It’s difficult to understand just how married together the two brands are, as the original Halo is responsible for a healthy portion of Xbox’s lasting success....

Steam’s public statistics page shows that Halo Infinite has a daily high of just 30,000 players, and routinely has closer to 15,000 playing. Compared to the top games on Steam that routinely have 250,000 to a million daily players, this means that Halo Infiinite is in the bottom 20% of the Top 100 games on the platform. Of course, the release date delay certainly hurt the Xbox Series X and 343 Industries, but luckily the fanbase was generally positive and responded with kindness and understanding. It’s an unfortunate scenario, especially when a lot of the Xbox Series X/S existing marketing was hinging on Master Chief’s return. Halo Infinite is still certainly on the way, and the extra development time will be better for the game’s overall release, but it has many wondering when the game’s actually coming....

Xbox has recently announced that it would be holding a conference at this year’s Gamescom, which has fans hyped for a number of interesting announcements. While it’s best to keep expectations in check for entirely new reveals, there’s a high likelihood that Halo Infinite will receive its release date on the stage. Ray tracing may change Halo Infinite for the better as it offers better lighting and more apparent shadows than the current graphical processing, with improved performance “on RX7000 series platforms with Ray Tracing acceleration.” 343 Industries confirmed the ray tracing information during the recent AMD Presents broadcast which also featured Samsung, Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine, games like The Callisto Protocol, Forspoken, and more. Since the game’s launch, players have been experiencing Halo Infinite Big Team Battles and Arenas without ray tracing, but it’s about to change with the Season 3 update....

While many fans are craving the addition of some fan-favorite maps, there’s a fairly vocal section of the player-base that longs for some of the series’ older weapons. Although Halo Infinite’s array of weaponry features a fair few classics, like the Assault Rifle, Battle Rifle, and iconic Energy Sword, there’s still a handful of old guns that aren’t in the game, and the multiplayer experience may be lesser for it....

However, as with any sport, cheating within eSports is something that does happen and can ruin entire tournaments, careers, and even the reputations of games.
