Singapore, Sep 15 (PTI) Lewis Hamilton produced a ‘magic lap’ to beat championship rival Sebastian Vettel for pole position in the Singapore Grand Prix here on Saturday. Ferrari seemed the faster car all weekend until Hamilton came up with a 1:36.105 in his first run in Q3. Vettlel was not able to respond to that and ended third fastest with a 1:36.628. Max Verstappen, in the Red Bull, was three-tenths faster than the German and will start on the front row with Hamilton....

Lewis Hamilton’s triumph at the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday put him 40 points clear of Sebastian Vettel in the drivers’ championship, while the Silver Arrows now head the Scuderia by 37 points in the constructors’ championship. Mercedes’ success at Marina Bay was perhaps one of the more unexpected wins for a team that has utterly dominated the sport since 2014, coming at a circuit where they have traditionally struggled to find the pace that comes to them so naturally at other locations....

Hamsik appeared poised to complete a switch to the Chinese Super League outfit earlier this week before Napoli postponed the transfer over an issue related to the structure of the payments for a purported €20million deal. F1 chairman Chase Carey and Nguyen Duc Chung, the Mayor of Hanoi, made the announcement on Wednesday. A 5.556-kilometer circuit will be constructed near the national stadium using a combination of existing infrastructure and roads to be built in a new residential area on the edge of the city center. “The race track in Hanoi is unique in the world with half of it being on existing streets and the other half to be built,” Chung said....

Vietnam announced last week it will host the race in its communist capital from April 2020, becoming only the third Southeast Asian nation to host the Formula One after Malaysia and Singapore. “We’re very proud to be announcing this race in 2020,” Carey told reporters in Hanoi as details of the event were unveiled. Halo fans have been wondering since the Showtimes series was announced whether or not the project would feature Master Chief in a lead role. Considering the Chief’s mysterious nature, it could be very difficult to honor the franchise history by focusing on him. On the other side of the coin, some past Halo projects have proven that Halo without Master Chief just isn’t really the same. That said, Showtime apparently plans to move forward with including Master Chief as a lead character in the series....

Hamas’ Al-Qassam Brigades said Wednesday in a message seen by Newsweek that they were “directing a rocket strike involving 15 rockets for Dimona,” which houses Israel’s secretive nuclear site. Rocket warning sirens could be heard there as well as in a number of areas across Israel’s Negev region and further north including the cities of Ashkelon and Tel Aviv. As hundreds of rockets were launched by Al-Qassam Brigades and fellow Gaza-based forces like Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s Al-Quds Brigade, a spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces said the results of the attack toward Dimona were unknown....
